“Have to buy that car ….… you will never be accepted … I regret saying that….. you are just worthless……. need to go on a holiday….shouldn’t…. couldn't….. can't….. society…. family…. religion…….” said rambling voices and with blinding lights originating from screens all around.

A tiny white, pale translucent being was suspended in space surrounded in every direction in a cage with countless screens. It curled up like a ball, head in its arms and ears covered as if it's trying to protect itself.

‘who….am….I ?’ whispered a familiar voice faintly amidst the chaos.
I am an accountant,’ boomed a voice from one of the screens.

‘Who….am….I ?’ the voice grew a little louder, and a screen suddenly went dark — the being lifted its head slightly to look through the folds of its arms at the dark patch in the shiny cage.

I need to do well in this Friday's meeting,’ said a tense voice coming from the screen flashing brightly, drawing the being’s attention ‘ if I don't do well, I might get sacked …if I get sacked, I can't pay the bills …. then I can’t…’

‘WHo….am….I?’ said a more vibrant voice; it felt like it was coming from outside the cage. Another screen went dark, and the being started to uncurl, and its skin started to look less faded; its faint eyes like crystal balls twinkled as it blinked curiously.

I am Rahul,’ said a character on a slightly bigger screen compared to the others, the voice seemed very confident about its answer

‘WHO….am…. I?’ resounded a voice again, a few screens went off at once.
the being grew in size, and its skin started to glow vibrantly as the darkness engulfed it

A few moments passed silently as the being looked around beaming.

I….I a.a.am a human being’ said a screen anxiously and desperately as if its life depended upon it being right

‘WHO….Am….I?’ thundered the voice calmly, as more screens started to go dark, only a few remained. The being started to become bigger and brighter; its brightness made it hard to look at it without squinting eyes.

I have gotta be the soul, that's it!’ proclaimed a voice from one of the remaining screens.

‘WHO….AM…I?’ the voice echoed loudly. The being recognized that the voice asking the question was also coming from a screen right above it, the only screen left; it looked in every direction, ever-growing slowly.

Darkness all around. The being like a ball of pure light emanating all around; the last screen continued to ask the persisting question again and again as it started to grow fainter and glow dimmer. It soon started to blink and was barely audible.

The being grew almost as big as its cage slowly and continued to grow, the last screen went dark.

There was nothing.

A pair of what are ‘supposed’ to be eyes opened up to nothing
